Side Match

Color Side Match occurs due to a manufacturing-related side to side color variation across the width of the carpet. One edge of the carpet will be darker, and the color progressively lightens across the width. When the carpet is seamed together, the dark and light sides come together. This is when the variation is first noticed. Some side match conditions occur due to an end to end shade variation. This occurs when the carpet dye gets progressively darker or lighter as it moves through the continuous dye line. This end to end shade variation is called color runoff. Both conditions appear as a color difference across the seams and will usually be noticed immediately after the seams are constructed.

Corrections – Many side match problems can be corrected using a color blending process to match the color. This is especially true on Nylon and wool carpet.
